Coding principles you think you know: YAGNI, KISS, DRY and SOLID. OOP is not one of them. It is the tool underneath that you use to apply them.
They do not always agree:
- DRY wants abstraction. KISS wants less of it.
- YAGNI says you won’t need it. SOLID says prepare for change.
AI writes the code. You own the architecture. So: do you know them? Do you use them? Can they live together?
This is the intro to the Essential Principles series. Next: DRY, KISS, YAGNI and SOLID one by one, then how to combine them.
